Visceral Manipulation

Visceral Manipulation involves the release of tension in the ligaments and fascia of the organs in the body. It is a gentle, but relatively deep tissue therapy with the emphasis on promoting the organs to move and glide freely. Organs are similar to the muscles of the body, in that there is commonly unhealthy tension built up within them that causes pulling on other areas of our complex bodies resulting in dysfunction. This limited motion of the organs can be from trauma, emotional stress, our poor diets and just everyday life.

This therapy has been practiced for a number of centuries, originally developed in China and Tibet. But more recently it has undergone a considerable amount of research by French osteopath, Dr. Jean-Pierre Barral, who discovered it from his patients that were healing from the “people in the mountains.” His interests lead to tens of thousands of case studies and research.
